Time out market, Santa Justa elevator, Sintra castles and an abundance of pastel de natas

Day 1

  • 12pm - arrive in Lisbon and take a taxi into the centre to your hotel

  • 1pm - head out to explore Lisbon and visit Carmo Convent, Castelo de S Jorge and Baixa neighbourhood

  • 4pm - stop for a pastel de nata at Fabrica de nata

  • 5pm - head to Time Out market and spend the evening devouring the delicious food and drink options

Day 2

  • 9am - have breakfast at Copenhagen Coffee Lab

  • 10am - take the train from Rossio station to Sintra (buy tickets in advance for the castles)

  • 11am - explore Sintra and begin visiting the castles starting with the National Palace of Sintra

  • 12pm - have lunch close to the National Palace

  • 1pm - walk or take a bus or tuk tuk to Pena Palace and Gardens

  • 2pm - explore the palace gardens and then make your way to the entrance of the castle for your allotted ticket time

  • 3pm - take a tour of the Pena Palace

  • 4:30pm - take a tuk tuk back to the train station and head back to Rossio station

  • 6pm - head back to your hotel to get ready for the evening

  • 7pm - dinner at Bao Boa

  • 8:30pm - drinks at Lisbon winery and Pensao Amor

Day 3

  • 9am - join We Hate Tourism Tours for a half- day tour off the beaten track

  • 12:30pm - finish the tour at LX Factory and have lunch at Beer's

  • 1:30pm - explore LX Factory and then take public transport to Belem

  • 2:30pm - visit the Belem tower, Jeronimos monastery and Pasteis de Belem - the home of the pastel de nata

  • 5:30pm - head back to Lisbon centre

  • 7pm - dinner at A Cevicheria or Cervejaria Ramiro
