What is the Franschhoek wine tram?

Well, it is fairly self explanatory but it is a hop-on-hop-off tram which takes you between a number of wineries in the Franschhoek region in South Africa where you can sample the best wines this region has to offer. Part of the journey changes to a bus and you will receive a glass of wine on your journey as you board the tram at the main station.

Is there only one route?

There are 5 different routes - blue, navy, orange, pink and red which take you to different wineries in different orders so it depends which wineries you wish to visit. The lines depart between 8:45am and 1pm. The tram departs from either the Franschhoek terminal or the Groot Drakenstein terminal.

How many wineries can I visit?

As many as you like! But it is recommended you visit 3-4 wineries. There are 30 wineries to choose from in total all which offer a slightly different experience from standard wine tastings to chocolate or cheese pairings and lunch options.

No, all wine tastings must be purchased separately directly at the wineries.

How much are the wine tastings?

The wine tastings range from 50-260 rand per person so as little as 2 euros 50 to sample some exquisite South African wines.
