Best things to do in Mallorca's capital, Palma

Castle and green water

Paseo maritimo walk

Walking along the promenade from Portixol to the centre of Palma and passing Parc de la mar

Parc de la mar

Mercat de l'olivar

A fresh food market located a 10 minute walk North of the cathedral

Palma cathedral

The staple of Mallorca with its beautiful gothic architecture and features from Antoni Gaudi. A must when visiting Mallorca and tickets start from 10 euros per person

Royal Palace La Almudaina

The palace dates back to the 14th century and is the residence of the king and queen of Mallorca where they stay on their return to the island

S'Hort del rei

"The King's Orchard" and these are the gardens of the Almudaina palace. The gardens are luscious and green and filled with cypress trees, flowers and pretty arches

Bellver Castle

Bellver Castle is located an hours walks to the East of Portixol and you can catch this if you join the Palma City Sightseeing tour bus. The castle has beautiful views of Palma Bay and the Tramuntana mountain range. It is Spain's only round castle and dates back to the 14th century. General admission starts from 4 euros per person

Arab baths

Again, to the East of Portixol you will find the Arab baths (Banys Arabs). They are said to be the best preserved romanesque public baths currently known. Tickets are 3 euros per person
